Manjhi. Panchayat : Panchayat is organized in the tribal society in order to sort out mutual quarrels and disputes. Paun: The cash given to the son's wife (Putra wadhu) is called Paun. Parha: Parha is formed by a cluster of five to thirty villages. Its chief is called "Paraha Raja" (King). Pahan: The priest of Munda, Oraon and some other tribes is called Pahan. In some areas, Baiga is used instead of Pahan. Sardar: In the Pahariya tribe, the chief of a group of villages is declared as the"Sardar". Baiga: The priests ofthe districts of Ranchi. Palamau and Latehar are called Baiga.Especially the priests of Oraon, Asur, Birajiya, Chero, Kharwar and Pahadiya tribes are called "Baiga". Dhumkudiya(Yuva Griha) : It is an institution ofthe unmarried youth of the Oraon tribe. It has two branches: Jonkerpa and Pel Erapa. First one is for boys and the second one is for girls. Dihuri : The priests of the Ho, Khadiya, Sabar and Bathudi tribes are called Dihuri. Dehari : The priest of Mal Pahariya is called Dehari. Giti-Ora : It is an organization ofthe unmarried youth of the Munda tribe. It is quite similar to Dhumkuriya of the Oraon tribe. Laya : The priest of Bhumij tribe is known as Laya. Mati : One who does magic among the Chero, Kharwar, Oraon, Asur and Gorait is known as "Mati". |
