•        Budhhism had a deep impact on the Chotanagpur region. Even today, remnants of Budhhism
            are found in Jharkhand. The Buddhist shrines of Dalsi and Budhpur of Dhanbad are prominent
            among them.
    •        3 KM south-west of the Khunti town in the Ranchi district, there is a village Belwadag where one
            hillock looks like Buddhist Vihar.
    •        Buddha's statues have been found in many places of Jharkhand. Buddha's statues have been
            recovered from Jonha waterfalls of Ranchi, Kutga village ofGumla.
    •        In due course, a bigot Shaiva ruler named Shashank destroyed all the Buddhist structures of
            Chotanagpur.
    •        Jainism also spread in Jharkhand. Jain's 23rd Teerthankar Parshwanath had got Nirvana in the
            eighth century BC on the Parasnath Hill.
    •        There is mention of Chotanagpur in an archive no - 13 of Ashoka by the name Atavi/Atav. It is
             said in it that the unconquered tribes near Kaling should follow Dhamma.
    •        Kanishka's coins have been found in Ranchi.
    •        During the reign of Bengal's Pal rulers, Vajrayan Buddhist sect flourished in the Chotanagpur
            region.
    •        During the same time, 'Chhinnamastika Shaktipeeth' was established in the Ramgarh
            subdivision of Hazaribagh district. Subsequently, temples of the Hindu deities were established
            in different places of this region.
