Important Tribal Revolts / Movements: The British first made their entry into Jharkhand from Singhbhum Manbhum. The first revolt against the British commenced in this area. Soon after the entry of the British into Singhbhum in 1767 there was a tremendous revolt under the leadership of the sacked king, Jagannath Dhal. That is known as the 'Dhal Revolt'. More Freedom Movement Revolutionary Terroism: Jharkhand was part of the combined Bengal before 1912.Therefore the revolutionary movement in revolutionaries led by Ganesh Chandra Ghosh.Nirmal Chandra Banerjee had got a leaflet with the title "Our Independent India" pasted on a pillar in Giridih in 1913. These leaflets were brought to Giridih by Jeevan Christo Roy son of Indrabhushan Roy of 24 Paragana Some students of St. Columba's College had joined the revolutionaries Student Ram Vinod Singh was given the title "Jatin Bagha". He was arrested on 14 December 1918.Deoghar was a prominent centre of the revolutionaries. |
